EASY Chocolate Banana Pudding Cake

Ever since I posted my "Easiest, Best Cakes EVER" post, I've been coming up with all kinds of crazy combinations for cakes. All you need is a cake mix, some instant pudding mix, and a can of frosting, so the possibilities are ENDLESS.

This version is fantastic - all the goodness of banana pudding, in a light vanilla cake, all with rich, milk chocolate-y frosting. The banana flavor is light and subtle, not at all overpowering.

If you're not a banana fan, however, feel free to try any combination you like - maybe a  strawberry cake with lemon pudding, or a carrot cake with butterscotch pudding - it's all up to you!

EASY Chocolate Banana Pudding Cake

1 box vanilla cake mix
1 box instant banana pudding
4 eggs, room temperature
1 cup vegetable oil
1 8oz container sour cream
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 can milk chocolate frosting
1 8oz package cream cheese, softened

Combine the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, oil, sour cream, milk and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Mix well to combine - the batter will be thick.

Spread the batter into a greased cake pan (I used a 13x9", but feel free to use a Bundt pan, cake rounds, etc). Bake in a 350° oven for the amount of time called for on the box, plus an additional 10 minutes. For my 13x9" pan, the box called for 32-35 minutes, so I baked for 42-45 minutes (until a toothpick inserted into the center came out clean).

Cool cake completely.

With an electric mixer, whip the canned frosting and cream cheese together, then spread atop the cake.
